Communication is dwindling but my excitement isn't

August 7

I have left the comfort of internet in my room, left the medical mission in Mwanza, traveled through the Kilimanjaro Airport and landed in Arusha to meet up with half of the climbers.

My day looked something like this:

7:00: Breakfast:

                           Hotel -> Bugando Medical Center

8:00: Group Photo

9:00: Goodbyes

13:45: MWANZA -> JRO (Kilimanjaro Aiport)

16:00: Arrive at the hotel to be greeted by hugs from Jeff and Yaniv Hoffman and Debby Silver

Hoffman Sandwich

20:00: Back to the airport to pick up Mindy Ganz (my mom :) ) and Danny Roth, 2 Canadian Board Members. More hugs and even a screech.

View from our balcony at Kigongni Lodge

21:30: Welcome drinks by the fireplace

22:00: Birthday dinner for Debby Silver

Debby loves her cake

23:30 Lauren Winkler strolls in just in time for cake and birthday songs, Tanzanian style.

Thoughts of the day:

The atmosphere today is quite different. We’re in an open air lodge with individual huts on a gorgeous green mountain overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. I have just spent the last few days in a hospital with not much air circulation, funny smells and blood splatters. Although I am beyond ecstatic to be here, I miss the grime and team at the hospital. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of 2 teams; the Medical Team and the Climb Your Heart Out Team.

Now onto the next leg of my adventure....
