The Challenge: Mount Kilimanjaro 2011

AUGUST 8TH - 16TH, 2011

This past August, a brave, international team of doctors, supporters, and volunteers climbed Africa’s highest peak to raise $1 million to save the lives of children in Africa.

While pushing physical and mental boundaries, our climbers galvanized worldwide awareness to the SACH mission: to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries.

2011 marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of our late founder Dr. Ami Cohen who tragically passed away on Mount Kilimanjaro after reaching the summit. Africa was the starting place for Ami’s vision and we are committed to continuing his legacy of saving more hearts in the heart of Africa.

Together, with our supporters and champions, we will save the lives of 100 children.  Give the gift of life.  Support Climb Your Heart Out: Mount Kilimanjaro 2011.

We chose to challenge ourselves to ascend the Machame Route. The hike will took 7 days and began at Machame Gate, located in the southern base of mountain, within its lush, fertile rainforest.
