Canadian SACH Board had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Lior Sasson and Simon Fisher on a recent visit to Toronto. While Dr. Sasson was busy networking at the AATS conference (American Association for Thoracic Surgery) Simon was busy networking and meeting with donors. While at the conference, Dr. Sasson met with Dr. Wang, Head of Pediatric Cardiac surgery at Hebei Children’s Hospital in China and long time SACH partner as well as Cori Atlin, a 2008 summer volunteer at the Children’s Home - an experience that she describes as life altering.
Two receptions were held while Dr. Sasson and Simon were in Toronto. On May 2nd, close to 100 guests attended a ‘new friends’ reception held at the home of Riva and Menashe Grinshpan and hosted by Riva, Menashe and Mindy Ganz and her husband Jerry Schulman. On May 4th, 60 guests attended a ‘new friends’ reception held at the home of David and Barbara Peltz and hosted by board member Dr. Louis Peltz and his wife Dr. Leigh Solomon.
During their visit the SACH Canada Leadership Board held the 2nd annual Bowl Your Heart Out event. Simon had the opportunity to speak to a crowd of 180 young adults and congratulate them on a tremendous event – raising $75,000 net – funds that will provide the gift of life to 7 young children.
Dr. Sasson and Simon’s presence in Toronto added depth, passion and first hand experiences to the various events.
