The Save a Child’s Heart photo exhibition officially opened at the Rice University on December 8, 2009.
70 people attended the opening event, among them the Consul General of Israel to the Southwest, the Honorary Consul General of Jordan, reception co-sponsor Bill Birdsall, CEO of MicroMed Technologies, members of the Houston Jewish Federation, , Rive University students and many more.
The Deputy Consul General of Israel to the Southwest, Belaynesh Zevadia, spoke at the event and stated the importance of such events that shows Israeli humanitarian organizations like SACH that are not conflict-centred.
Also speaking was David Litwack, Executive Director of Save a Child’s Heart USA who spoke about the history of SACH and the patients and medical trainees it serves. David also talked about SACH's continuing work with the US Army in Iraq caring for Iraqi children and the milestone of SACH's treating its 1,000 Palestinian child. David answered many questions about funding sources, overcoming language and cultural barriers between SACH doctors and patients, and how to intern and volunteer with SACH.
