Sami Shamoon z"l

Sami Shamoon, President of Save a Child's Heart International, passed away.

On behalf of all of us in Save a Child's Heart, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Sami Shamoon, President of Save a Child's Heart International.

Over the years, Mr. Shamoon has helped to provide the means by which SACH physicians have gained further training and expertise in their fields abroad. In particular the training of our very own Dr. Lior Sasson whose two year fellowship with one of the top pediatric cardiac surgeons in the world, Prof. Edward Bove, at Anne Arbour Michigan was sponsored by Mr. Shamoon.
After hearing the sad news Prof. Bove wrote:

I am very saddened to hear this news.  Mr. Shamoon was a wonderful, generous person and he will be greatly missed.  His many contributions to SACH International were responsible for saving the lives of a great many children.  I truly enjoyed our social interactions when I visited and will miss visiting with him in the future.

Mr. Shamoon's dedication and generosity has helped to save the lives of hundreds of children suffering from heart diseases.

On May 30th, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office issued a  press release stating, "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today expressed his sorrow on the passing of Sami Shamoon. The Prime Minister said that Shamoon was a warm-hearted Jew with a genuine commitment to the State of Israel, who contributed extensively in every way, especially to medical and educational institutions thus affording equal opportunities for Israeli youth."

Mr. Sami Shamoon will be truly missed by all of us at Save a Child's Heart.
