Who arrived...Who left...Who had a birthday...

This week has been packed with fun activities for the children and adults alike! Birthright groups from Canada and the USA helped the children prepare colourful foam hearts and hands for them to take back home and to give to our new arrivals during these next few weeks.
We also said goodbye to a lot of the children, with Biruk, Yabsera , Daudi , Abel , Nicodem all happily making their way back home to Ethiopia and Tanzania. As a result, the house is quieter this week mostly due to the absence of the rambunctious Daudi and Abel who were both extremely excited to be flying back-‘Daudi/Abel Tanzaniaaaa!’ became the most frequently heard phrase ringing through the house on Wednesday. Baby Nicodem is happily flying home on the brink of being able to take his first steps alone, a huge testament to the success of his surgery.
On Thursday a group of volunteers from the organisation ‘Bina’ came in to treat the mothers to a well-deserved manicure and pedicure, an opportunity to relax which was definitely enjoyed by all.
Next week we will be focusing on getting most of the remaining children home safe, healthy and with sacks of donated presents that Laura and the volunteers have been busy preparing. Christian, Abigael , Sara and Valentin have all had their present bags prepared for their imminent departures, with their mothers excitedly peering in to see what the kids could look forward to.
It has been amazing to see so many of the children healthy enough to be able to return home to their families , and although we will miss them it is fantastic knowing that they have achieved the purpose of their trip and are ready to begin a new life with their healthy hearts.
