Detroit, USA

Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan recently hosted an opening reception on March 12th for the Save a Child's Heart International Photo Exhibition. The exhibit is currently on display at Beaumont Hospital.

Amir Gissin, Israeli Consul General from Toronto, was the keynote speaker at the reception. "Save a Child's Heart is Israel's most important humanitarian organization," said Gissin. "No organization has a greater impact in showcasing Israeli values to countries around the world than Save a Child's Heart," noted Gissin.

He also pointed out how extraordinarily unusual it is for a Consul General from Canada to speak in the United States. "Normally, I would never speak outside of Canada, but because SACH is such a unique organization and so important to the State of Israel, I had to come here on this occasion," added Gissin.

Ashley Israel, whose father oversees the London branch of Save a Child's Heart, chaired the reception and organized the committee which arranged for the exhibit to come to Detroit. More than 100 people attended the reception.

David Litwack, Executive Director of Save a Child's Heart U.S., also spoke at the reception. He said that he hoped the exhibit would foster understanding of what Israeli citizens are doing to help children regardless of nationality or ethnicity, highlight the need to support organizations like Save a Child's Heart; and increase the awareness of congenital heart disease in the developing world.

He also emphasized the role SACH plays in building bridges of peace and improving relations between Israel and Palestinians as well as other countries.

The exhibit will be on display at Beaumont Hospital through March 31st and then will travel to New York.
