The Save A Child’s Heart (SACH) International Photography Exhibition “From Art to Heart” was displayed at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City, from March 9 – 13, 2009.
A reception and opening event took place on March 9, Secretary of Social Development and Welfare Department, Esperanza Cabral, was the guest of honor during the opening ceremony.
The photography exhibition is an initiative project of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SACH Foundation, launched as part of Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations. The Exhibition is traveling around the world in five copies.
In the Philippines, it was a joint project of the Embassy of Israel in Manila, the Shalom Club of the Philippines and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
Added on the exhibit was a photo of Lyka Edna Masgay, an 8-month old infant from La Trinidad, Benguet who was the first Filipino child to be brought by Save a Child's Heart to Israel for life saving heart treatment. Lyka and her mother were flown to Israel for the operation. Two weeks after her operation, Lyka was taken out of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and was moved to the children's ward where she is recovering very well.
Earlier, a painting contest was held at the PCMC. The hospital encouraged their patients to join the art contest with the theme “From Art to Heart.” Winners were announced during the formal opening of the exhibit.
Attending the SACH photography exhibition were Ambassador Zvi Vapni and Deputy Chief of Mission Yaniv Revach of the Israeli Embassy. Also present were members and guests of the Shalom Club of the Philippines, officials and supported of the PCMC and members of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists – Philippines.
Children from the hospital entertained the guests with a song and a very lively dance number.
