Eight children, five mothers and a nurse from Angola, Zanzibar and Kenya returned home...
On Thursday evening, February 26 2009 a group of eight children, as well as mothers, grandmothers, aunts and Salma, the escorting nurse from Zanzibar, returned to their homes;
Meja and Ramadan from Zanzibar, Josemar , Ines, Irina, Manuel from Angola and Samuel and Junior from Kenya.
The evening before the massive departure a farewell party took place in the house with volunteers, nurses, mothers and children all dancing and in a party mood.
The group drove to the airport with two minibuses rented for the occasion and with the help of house mother Laura and a number of volunteers all bags and suitcases were taken out of the vehicles and into the terminal.
While waiting in line four year old Portuguese speaking Manuel from Angola began singing and dancing Jamba Jamba in perfect Swahili to the amusement of all the people in line waiting to get checked.
One more hug, one more kiss and one more laugh and the group of fifteen children and adults boarded the Ethiopian Airline flight. In Addis Abba each group continued on a separate flight to their country and we have since been informed that all children and mothers arrived safely and were met by their families.
