Save A Child's Heart (SACH) has partnered with Hillel Tel Aviv (TAU) and the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzilliya (IDC) as a part of a Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) intiative. The project was made possible as a result of a Samuel Bronfman Foundation sponsorship.
Presently, 25 dedicated volunteers from Hillel Tel Aviv (TAU) and Hillel IDC take part in the SACH/Hillel volunteer program. The initiative brings with it great educational and hands on opportunities for students. Students involved volunteer at the SACH Children's Home in Azur and at the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon. The program provides students with the unique opportunity to interact and connect with children from developing countries that come from varying backgrounds.
The students also engage in spreading the word about SACH on campus and around Israel. They plan awareness events and act as SACH/Hillel ambassadors in their communities. For examply, Hillel TAU and SACH organized a successful Idan Raichel event in Spring 2008. Engaging in these significant projects creates a challenging and fulfilling volunteer environment.
SACH/Hillel volunteers have the opportunity to meet students from around the world who come to Israel and visit SACH through group visits.
Arabic speaking students have in the past and continue to volunteer at the hospital with families from Iraq and the Palestinian Authority.
