The Children's Home

The Save a Child's Heart (SACH) Children’s Home is a very unique environment that brings together children and mothers from vastly different regions of the earth who come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and different religions and languages.

The children are brought to Israel in groups of 4 – 6 children accompanied by a nurse or escort from their home country, while a parent accompanies children under the age of three.

A child’s average stay in Israel is three months, during which time the children undergo examinations, surgery and recovery. Located in close proximity to the Wolfson Medical Center this house is the children’s home away from home, catering to all of the child’s needs.

The children at the home are taken care of by Laura Kafif, the SACH housemother and a team of Israeli and international volunteers, who provide a warm, friendly and supportive environment.

Children speaking many different languages – French, English, Chinese, Kurdish, Swahili, Amaharic, Russian, Romanian, Moldovan, Arabic  amongst others – become best friends and play together while mothers who have no common language will cook together, take care of the day to day tasks and support each other in one of the most difficult times of their lives.
